joint/supplementary credit card
Last summer my husband declared bankruptcy. One credit card for $8000 was joint or supplementary, (not sure which) but I never used my card at any time. I have been paying $200 monthly but have been unable to get a statement from the bank I have made numerous requests without success. The trustee tried also without success. what can I do?

This is a difficult one to answer as we don’t know if you were a joint debtor or a supplementary one.
The only way I can think of for you to force their hand is stop making payments and when they contact you insist on seeing some documentation that verifies that you are indeed responsible for this amount. The obvious problem is that if you stop making payments and are responsible for it then there will be an immediate impact on your credit.
I suppose you could also order a copy of your credit history report to see if the bank is reporting it under your name. However, this isn’t a very good method to verify things as no one forces the bank to report to the credit bureau so the mere fact that it isn’t on your bureau doesn’t mean your aren’t liable. However, if it is on your bureau it can be a pretty good indication your are listed jointly.
