owning a home and bankruptcy…what can we do?

My husband was unemployed for 4 months and we are currently playing catch up on bills that seem to never end. To the point where our electric is going to be cut off and we have 2 kids, 4yrs and 8 months. We have already consolidated a large loan from citifinancial and I am currently looking to go back to work asap. If we file bankruptcy, can we still keep our home?

This largely depends on what province you live and the amount of equity in the home.

The best thing for you to do is to contact a local trustee and they will be able to outline how the provincial exemptions work and what you can expect if you should file.
