Child Support Orders and Bankruptcy

I was wondering what happens if someone has an unpaid child support order and they are trying to claim bankruptcy? Especially when they quit thier job and are not looking for a new one.
Will they be required to start making thier child support payments?

Child support is an interesting topic.

It is a claim that is proveable in a bankrutpcy (i.e. gets listed on the bankruptcy documets), is eligible for a priority for any payments that should have been made over the last 12 months and were not, and the balance survives a bankruptcy.

The bankruptcy process has no way to compel someone to start making payments, but doesn’t clear them from the arearrs.
