U.S and Canadian debts combined

Are U.S. debts included/eligible in a Canadian bankruptcy? If a Canadian citizen is returning to Canada after years working in the U.S. and has accumulated excessive U.S. and Canadian debt, will Canadian bankruptcy manage U.S. debts?

Canadian legislation can only clear you from Canadian debts. If you want to be cleared from debts in the Uniteed States you must file a bankruptcy there.

However, the bankruptcy legislation will protect you from collection attempts of your creditors while in Canada, but if you leave to visit the US there is no protection in place.
