i have a large debt owed to revenue canada with little hope of being able to pay it off.
would they be able to contest my Bankruptcy?

Any creditor retains the right to oppose a bankruptcy discharge, but this doesn’t mean that the bankruptcy will be reversed or even that the debt will survive the bankruptcy. Likely, the court will simply hear CRA’s opposition and require you to pay for a longer period of time.

One thing you may want to discuss with a local trustee is how filing a proposal may allow you to either avoid a bankruptcy or alternatively if not accepted may result in a little more sympathy from the courts and ultimately could reduce the severity of their decision.
