Disability and Debt

I receive approx $885 per month for disability via BC Gov’t. I have a $6000 credit card debt and can barely make the payments each month, especially because the interest rate is SO high.

I don’t have any assets, I share rental accomodation and do not have a vehicle.

Should I just file for bankruptcy to get rid of the added stress? Is it even possible to do so while on Social Assistance?

This really becomes a question that you must answer and typically it comes down to stress vs. money. If you are not bothered by the collection efforts of your creditor and it is not likely to have a negative effect on your health then it probably not necessary for you to file a bankruptcy as there is really nothing past bothering you that your creditors can do (assuming you have no non-exempt assets and your only income is pension earnings). However if your in a position where the collection attempts are simply to much for you to put up with then you would likely be best served to contact a local trustee and file for bankruptcy.
