Credit reporting after bankruptcy

Bankruptcy filed – April 2004
Discharged – Jan 2005

Problem –

Creditors have varying dates of when they last reported on my credit report.

Some have last reporting dates in 2005 and some are still reporting monthly as if the account is still active. Only one creditor has reported correctly. Creditors should not report after the filing of bankruptcy of April 2004. Is there legislation relating to this? I would like to challenge the creditors and have them backdate the reporting dates to the month that I filed in April 2004.

The way it appears now, is as though i was owing a payment to these creditors after i was discharged.

thx

There is no point trying to challenge each of the creditors, this would take a significant amount of time on your part, probable require the services of legal council, which is costly and really won’t benefit you much at all.

The best thing to do would be to contact the credit bureau directly, provide them a copy of your discharge documents and things should ultimately take care of themselves. If they do not, you can appeal any of the incorrect comments directly to the credit bureau and if done properly you should be able to rectify any incorrect submissions on the part of your creditors.
