Coming back to Canada to File for bankruptcy?

I moved to asia last year and have a large debt of about $50,000 on my credit cards and $20000 in taxes owed. I have no assets in Canada or asia and I work in asia but I make not enough money to pay down the debt. If I come back to Canada can I file for bankruptcy. I want to file and return to asia after dealing with the counselling meetings etc. Is this possible?

If you return to Canada, as long as you owe more than $1000.00 and are a current resident in of Canada, you will be eligible to file for a bankruptcy and shouldn’t have any trouble doing so.

All you will really need to do is contact a licensed trustee and they will help you through this process.
