Financing for Mortgage Loan after filing Bankruptcy?

If my husband files for bankruptcy, would we still be able to get a mortgage for a home, using his income in conjunction with wife’s?

This is a difficult question to answer as the approval of a mortgage is dependant on a number of factors, including your monthly income, monthly expenses, credit history, efforts made to rebuild credit after the filing of a bankruptcy, current debt load, value of assets owned, and the presence and size of the down payment. Normally we find that you can be considered for a mortgage after filing a bankruptcy after two years has elapsed since you had been discharged and they will want to see some evidence of attempts to rebuild credit during that 2 year period.
