Bankruptcy Announcement
my bankruptcy is going have assets over $10,000 and i was told that it would have to be advertised in the local newspapers legal section. I live in a small town and if i were to move to a nearby town (same province) and then file, would they use my new address or would the old address still be used in the announcement. this move has nothing to do with avoiding any creditors as all of them have been included – this is only for personal reasons of being known by everyone.

The law provides your trustee with a couple of options as to where the “local announcement” gets published. It should be printed either (1) where you reside, (2)where you carried on business, or (3)where the majority of your creditors are located.
For some one filing in Ontario, that means you might be able to justify running the add in one of the Toronto papers instead of the local daily.
I should warn you that no matter how careful you try to be, someone in your home town will find out about your bankruptcy – hiding it is a bad strategy that is bound to backfire. I’m not suggesting you run around telling people about it, but word will get out, you may as well be prepared for it.
