Various Discharge Judgements

I notice on your site different situations whereas some people receive different requirements to pay for different periods of time? Some as long as 10 years repayment period? What is this based on? Does the Bankruptcy Registar not have “sentence guidelines” to follow? Is there a place one can go to that would present previous judgements from the bankruptcy courts to potentially find similar circumstances in someone elses bankruptcy?

There are regional variations in discharge terms, as well as differences among the various Registrars that decide thiese matters.

The best source for advice would be to contact a trustee in your area and ask them for a description of the terms commonly used in the nearest Court.

If you have never been bankrupt before and you complete all of your duties properly then it is unlikely you will end up in Court. The folks that go to Court either fail to perform their duties properly, have been bankrupt before or a creditor has requested their discharge be reviewed by the Court.

Do what you are supposed to and there shouldn’t be a problem.
