Bankruptcy and Citizenship and Gambling

Hi, I had a lot of credit cards and some lines of credit. In total the credit limit for all the credit products were about 60K.

Unfortunately I’m a gambler, and had visited support sessions from Addiction services for York region. I made some “bad checks” to get some cash from creditors, and lost all cash at casino tables

Today I have a huge debt which I cannot pay.

My status in Canada is a Permanent resident. Will the bankruptcy have an influence on my application for the canadian citizenship?

Thank you.

I am not aware of any difficulties caused by bankruptcy for permanent residents, but I strongly suggest you check directly with Immigration officals to make certain that is correct.
