Living in US and File Chapter 13 with Canadian Debts

I recently filed Chapter 13 in the US and living there. I list my Canadian credit card debts. The lawyer sent them notice to claim. They never did. I asked my lawyer and he said don’t worry about it. Are those Canadian debts considered none collectable since they did not file with my Trustee?

Unfortunately, there are no international treaties on debt and/or debt collection. Your Chapter 13 filing protects you while you remain in the USA – if you return to Canada your Canadian debts will still exist and they have a legal right to pursue you.
