Family unit

In a previous post a trustee answered a question regarding how to calculate your income and expenses as a family unit .This was part of the response .”Guideline a bankrupts family unit includes is defined as any persons who reside in the same household and who benefit from either the expenses incurred or income earned by the bankrupt, or who contribute to such expenses or earnings “.My question is , if the family unit for example (I live with my two brothers ) is included as an expense or income in my bankruptcy ,are my brothers liable for my debts ? They have no connection whatsoever to my debts. Am I interpreting this right.

This guideline is not measured with respect to your debts, it is simply referring to the living arrangements and who benefits from the expenses incurred or income earned by the person claiming bankruptcy. Nor does it suggest liability for debt, it is a merely a mechanism to establish your financial circumstances and what the cost you (not your brothers) will have to pay for your bankruptcy.
