collection agencies dead lines and threats

I am an old girl of 66 and live on my own. I used my credit cards alot before I retired. I owe lots of money, probably 40,000.I have no expensive things and my only income is from my pension from the government.I was told that my creditors wouldn’t be able to take away my income. It would be hard to get anything from me . I also saw on this site ,questions about being creditor proof.I haven’t been able to pay my bills since around sept ,oct 2005. The creditors know my situation but they keep giving me deadlines to pay or else. I have been getting notices to pay in 7 days or else .I have about 10 notices since oct from this one credit card company. They all say 7 days, 3 days or else they take me to court. It is down to 48 hours now. It has been 48 hrs in every notice in the past 5 weeks. The 7 days have expired 5 months ago. Why won’t they follow their own deadlines and take me to court?I just want to get it over with. They know i have nothing and I told them they cannot intimidate me and that i just toss the notices in the trash. It has been 6 months now ,I am thinking they would have already sued me if they were going to . Would any of you people concur ?

Your creditors don’t want to take you to court as it is costly and therefore reduces the total amount they can recovery. As for whether or not they will sue you or not, I have no ay of predicting this. Eventually they may, but as you have no property they can access there really would be no value to do so.
