discharge in one month

I’m due to be discharged in a month. I’ve done all that I’ve been required to do, and am anxiously awaiting it. So far, to my knowledge, no creditors have objected and everything seems to be on course. Do creditors typically object before this point? Just wondering that if everything has gone well to this point, will I be in the clear come a month from now? What happens on the day of discharge? Do I just pick up my notice of discharge? Does it take a while after that day, or is it immediate? Thankyou in advance.

A creditor objection is fairly rare, but when it happens the trustee is usually notified at least a month prior to discharge time. As for the documentation, there is always a delay prior to you receiving the actual court document. While each court jurisdiction is different, here in Alberta it typically takes about a week prior to us getting the actual order in our hand and we in turn mail it directly to our clients. I know this time frame varies depending on how busy the court but I think you could expect it in roughly 2 weeks. For a more precise time estimate contact your trustee to see what typically happens in your area.
