Will bankrupcty stop collectors from suing?
I have recently had a child and have not been able to work so my husband has been the sole provider, but he came down with a serious illiness and has not been able to work for a few months and is just now going back to work part time. Since we had no savings our bills have become seriously past due and collectors are calling on a daily basis, they are incredibly rude and insulting and are very had to deal with. They say they will not accept any payment plans and will sue us for the full amount, since we cannot afford to pay what they are asking should we consider bankrupcty to afford a lawsuit?

I am not certain if bankruptcy is the right solution for your situation, but you should speak to someone locally about your finances before things get any worse.
The links on the side of the page will direct you to a local trustee in your area. If you are not comfortable talking to a trustee you may want to look in the phone book under “credit and debt counselling” for a counselling service near you.
There are alternatives to bankruptcy and you should try to meet with someone who can review your situation and explain your options to you.
