Yes, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has significant powers and they are able to exercise most of these powers very quickly as long as you have outstanding tax debt, or where they believe you have outstanding tax debt due to failure to file taxes.
The only way to get these powers stayed is by the filing of a bankruptcy or a consumer proposal.
