Question

I have a question that I didn`t see it before.I have a house and a car (both not payed yet ) and since I do have to go abroad fast, for a longer period of time -for more than 6 years my question is what happens if I just leave them here without continuing to pay ? Will I be charged abroad for these debts (probably I will still have some debts since my mortgage is new and the shortsell probably will not cover the entire amount – the same for the car)
Thank you very much

Any shortfall from these debts you will still be responsible for. Now while your oversees it is more difficult to pursue someone for collection. However, it is very possible to continue collection and also very commonly done. Regardless the debt you will continue to be responsible for, and even if collection attempts aren’t made while your out of the country, if you return to Canada you will still be responsible for all this debt and any associated interest, penalties, and possible the costs of collection or legal fees.
