CRA Garnishing a Joint account??

September 5th, 2008 by Questions

I`m on the verge of filing bankruptcy .. I rec`d a WONDERFUL letter in the mail today from the CRA. Stating that they are going to garnish my bank account.

HOWEVER, my bank account is a joint account, with my husband, @ TD bank. Can they garnish a joint account?

Whether or not it is legal, I have seen it done… we’re talking about the government after all. To protect yourslef (or rather the other person you share the account with) you should have your name removed from the account.
