Creditors Phone Calls

Are there rules laid out for creditors that they must follow when attempting to collect debts? Are they allowed to make repeated phone calls to one’s place of business? Thanks.

Each province has a set of rules that govern debt collectors. Typically the are not permitted to call you at work unless you are ignoring htier calls elsewhere and to get teh phone calls to work stop you need to formally make that request and arrange an alternate time and place to discuss things. However, if you don”t keep to these alternate arrangements the creditor may then call you at work again.

For more specific rules in your part of the country you are best to discuss these with a local trustee.
