Surplus income
October 6th, 2008 by Questions
If we have 4 people living in our home our threshold is $3303. If we don`t currently pay mortgage/rent will that fact change how our surplus income is calculated or is it based completely on the government threshold for a family of 4. I`m thinking that since we have more disposable income that maybe we would have to pay more…hope I`ve made sense.

The threshold is based entirely on your income. Your normal expenses have no impact on the surplus payment (with the exception of non-discretionary expenses like prescriptions or daycare cost).
So having no mortgage/rent payment will not have any impact on this calculation.
