lost my income, will there be a cost to file for bankruptcy

I now attend school so I lost my income because I no longer work…my income went from 40k to 15k….will there be a cost to file for bankruptcy…my income comes from child tax benefit and i only receive 1175 per month

There is always a cost to file a bankruptcy. This cost is set by each individual trustee so you would have to speak to a local trustee trustee directly.

However, based on your income you may not need to file bankruptcy as you are in a position we refer to as creditor proof. Meaning your income is to low for your creditors to force you to pay anything so you don’t need to do anything unil your income improves.
