Employer contact
March 29th, 2010 by Questions
Can a creditor contact my employer prior to having a court order for garnishment of wages. If not, what action can be taken by me if they have contacted my employer without having a court order?
Thank you

While there are very specific rules about when and how a collection agent / creditor can contact your employer and essentially it states that if they can contact your employer without a court order to verify you work there, to verify your contact information and to try to get in touch with you if you are not responding at the address and phone number that they have. This is irrespective of a court order.
