In most provinces you cannot be the director of a corporation while you are in bankruptcy. You are not a bankrupt by merely filing a consumer proposal. A consumer proposal under part three of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act is not bankruptcy. The restrictions applicable to an undischarged bankrupt are not necessary applicable to a debtor under a consumer proposal.
