Filing an assignment in bankruptcy or a consumer proposal should not affect your ability to continue to with your cell phone contract. This contract is a separate legal document and so long as you maintain your end of the service contract by making your regular payments the cell phone company should not discontinue service. Filing a bankruptcy or consumer proposal can affect the cost of entering into new service contracts in the future. So if you are pleased with your current contract and service provider it is recommended that you keep your payments current so you don’t end up having this contract terminated.
