Self employment and consumer proposals

October 1st, 2013 by Questions

I am considering filing for a consumer proposal if I can not successfully add a second mortgage to my home. If approved, do I have to disclose to my clients that I am “in a consumer proposal” similarly to a bankruptcy?

You only have to warn people if they are extending you more than $1,000 in new credit. If no credit is involved then you are under no obligation to disclose the proposal.
