Proposal during divorce

After being divorced…debt resolution looms. In total, I have approx. $45k of debt. As the only earner (ex does not work) will a consumer proposal based on the total debt owing eventually wipe out the total of what was our joint debt if the courts have deemed me responsible for the debts…

Sorry, but the Order in Family Court making you responsible for the family debt is not binding on your creditors. The only way a proposal will deal with all of the joint debt is if both you and your ex sign the proposal. If you do it alone then your creditors have the right to go after your ex. Your ex will then take you to Family Court since your ex will get stuck with the debts…
