unsecured credit

We are now 3 months into a consumor proposal,we switched banks like our trustie told us to do,all our debt was at the bank we left,we were at this new bank 8 years ago and when we got our chequeing and savings accounts we still had an active line of credit still there after all these years,and its still active with nothing on it,do i have to get rid of it or just leave it alone.do i have to tell them im in a proposal,is this legal..cause we are not allowed credit and we did not ask for it…….

You already know the answer to this question – BEFORE you try to use the line of credit you need to advise the bank of your situation so that they may make an informed decisons as to whether or not to allow you to keep the line.
