Only licenced trustees in bankruptcy may file a consumer proposal. There are only 1,000 licenced trustee in Canada and only about 500 deal with the general public. If you are not sure you have been speaking with a trustee ask them for their licence number or go to the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy’s website and see if they are on the list of licenced trustees.
If they are not, go and see someone that is BEFORE you starting paying any money.
