Settlement agreement

March 14th, 2012 by Questions

I have a settlement agreement with a company that I did business with and have now filed a consumer proposal. they are telling me that I still have to pay the settlement agreement as it was done so they would stop suing me. Is this true?

I have not seen the settlement agreement, so you should bring that into your trustee to have it reviewed. But if you defaulted on the settlement prior to the filing of the consumer proposal, it should be pretty straightforward an you won’t be bound by that agreement. But have your trustee review it to make sure.
