rrsp and proposal
January 5th, 2012 by Questions
I am going through a divorce and the judge asked my ex to pay me half of a early pension he had taken out. He could not help me pay for half the debts he left me with?? If i get a proposal where I pay so much a month to my creditors do I have to give them this pension he is suppose to give me, but I have not received

In most jurisdictions pensions funds are considered exempt assets and therefore are not lost in a bankruptcy or a consolidation loan, so you likely won’t need to worry about this. But it will be important for you to consult with a local trustee as what you do with your portion of the pension funds may be important (i.e. converting into RRSP etc.).
