Consumer Proposal and Supplementry Credit card holders
January 7th, 2012 by Questions
Can anyone tell me if a supplementry credit card holder(I am primary) is liable for debt on my card if I do a proposal? The supplementry card has been cancled (prior to Proposal)and the credit card company said to cut it up. I can’t seem to get a clear answer to this question. My terms and conditions indicate I am responsible for all debt occured on both Primary and supplemental cards. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks

Normally the supplementary card holder is not jointly liable for the debt. But it really depends on the contract that was signed. In some instances they contract stipulates that anyone who signs on the back of the car is personally responsible. This can be for the debt only associated with the supplementary card or for all of the debt associated with the account. But again it is completely determined by the actual contract that you and the supplementary card holder are bound to.
