Garnisheed Wages

Can I file a consumer proposal if wages are presently being garnisheed? Second can an employer let you go because of this, even if they use another excuse and if so what happens

You definitely can file a consumer proposal when your wages are being garnished. In fact one of the main advantages of a consumer proposal is that it has an automatic stay of proceedings that is put in place that will immediately stop most garnishee’s. As for your employer.
Technically no one is allowed to terminate an employee just for that fact that a consumer proposal has been filed. But you do have to be careful, as most employers can find a reason if they want to let someone go.
