debt overload

My husband and I both work and have good paying jobs, but we also have a lot of debt and are just getting by making minimum payments, sometimes we even miss those. At this rate we will never get out of debt, we can not save any money and we live pay cheque to pay cheque. We are looking for a solution to this problem other than bankruptcy we hope. Looking for some advice, we are definitely in too deep, wondering exactly what is consumer proposals and if we might qualify.
