filing a consumer proposal

March 24th, 2011 by Questions

I filed a consumer proposal in 2008 with the CRA and am about to pay it off, however I have fallen on hard times financially and would like to do another consumer proposal. Can it be done twice?

While that is never the goal, as long as you finish your first consumer proposal there is nothing preventing you from filing a second. You should discuss this with your trustee. The only trick is that if you have any of the same creditors on the second proposal as you did on the first they may be a little more cautious when it comes to voting than they were the first time.
