In Need of Help in Ontario

I am married. I have also accumulated roughly 30,000 of credit card/personal loan debt in my name. I also have unsecured debit jointly with my wife. I can affored to pay the joint debt based on current income, ect, but I think that I will be falling behind shortly in my obligations on the unsecured debt I have in my name only. I have not missed any payments yet, but the debtload has me stretched. Can I file a consumer proposal for ONLY MY unsecured debt? Will the joint debt need to be included? If I can file for JUST MY unsecured debt, will it affect my wife? My goal would be to preserve her credit rating…and not have my consumer proposal affect hers…

While the filing of a consumer proposals may be helpful, you are not allowed to leave out the joint debt. When filing a consumer proposals you are required by law to list all the debts that your name is associated with, you cannot pick and choose.
