significant other files proposal – am I responsible

if my common law went thru a consumer proposal would i be responsible for half his debt?

You would only be responsible if you signed on any of the debt. The consumer proposal will serve to release him from the debt, but it won’t affect other parties who have signed. So if you have signed on any of the debts you are still fully responsible that they be paid as originally contracted. However, if you have not signed on the debt, they then are not yours to worry about.
