How public is a consumer proposal? Do people other than your creditors know what you are going through or is it fairly quiet?

There ar no ads in the papers, there’s no free public listing. That being said, if you live in a tight community, it is quite possible for word to get out. It’s the sort of thing that can happen particularly if you owe any individuals money (as opposed to the banks).
Whatever trustee you choose should be able to tell you how likely any of your particular creditors are to say anything… if it is all commercial debt then the only people that will know will be the folks that check your credit report.
