home equity prevents me from a proposal?
November 7th, 2009 by Questions
I am separated from my husband. I am living in a rented appartment. He has not paid me my part of the home we own. He is finally putting the home for sale. but in the meantime…I am being harassed by creditors. If the house does not sell in a couple of months…can I do a proposal?

Technically you can file a consumer proposal before or after the house is sold. The only trick is in both cases the equity in the house must be factored into the settlement that is being proposed.
