50% share in a cottage

My wife and I own a cottage 50/50 she is not involved in my finances . Can I propose to pay my share in the ownership, in a proposal.

Yes, in a consumer proposal as long as you disclose this cottage and value what would come into a bankruptcy, if filed. Then you simply make sure you are offering more than the creditors receive under the bankruptcy scenario and there shouldn’t be any direct impact on this cottage. The best thing to do is to discuss this with a local trustee and they will help you craft the proposal in the appropriate fashion.
