Auto financing

January 7th, 2009 by Questions

I have completed my consumer proposal this past summer and I am looking to purchase a vehicle. I have $6,000 for a downpayment and a trade-in as well. With the current tight credit market in Canada will this impact my chances to obtain financing for a car or would it best to wait until the proposal is off my credit report in a couple of years??
Thanks for your time

The credit market is very tight right now, but you won’t know if you can get approved until you try… I suggest you make a couple of calls first – talk to the finance managers at a few dealerships BEFORE you talk to a salesperson. If the finance person thinks they will be able to work a deal, then go look at cars…
