Paying Off

Can a family member, such as a parent, pay off a consumer proposal debt for their family member? If so, who should the cheque be made out to, and does this have to be discussed first with the firm that handled the consumer proposal?

There is no problem with anyone paying off your consumer proposal on behalf of a debtor.

I would recommend it is discussed with the firm that handled the consumer proposal just to clarify the exact balance outstanding and the cheque should be made out to that firm as well.
