Mortgage application with my husband
March 10th, 2015 by Questions
Hi, I have been discharged from bankruptcy for 2.5 years, I am wondering if I am eligible to be put on title with my husband or what the standard rules are before I become eligible for a mortgage application with my husband?
Thanks

In general, your bankruptcy does not preclude you from being put on title on a property with your spouse after discharge. If he would like to voluntarily add your name to the title of a property that is not a problem. What may be an issue is whether your previous bankruptcy will allow you to be added to any mortgage against that property. Sometimes because of your credit rating it is better to have your husband apply for a mortgage on his own merit. Including you on the application may be a detriment as you may be offered higher than average interest rates or may even be denied the mortgage.
