2 years + still no gst
April 8th, 2011 by Questions
It seems to me that my trustee is taking her sweet ole time getting herself discharged. Its been well over 2 years since I was discharged, yet my trustee is still collecting my gst cheques. Is this typical, how long do I have to wait and what can I do, if anything, in having them sent back to me again.

It is possible your trustee is dragging her feet, but it won’t be so she can collect your GST. Once your trustee collects more than about $1700 they have to refund your GST anyway, so in our firm we don’t even keep it (we send CRA a form that releases it back to our clients immediately).
The best thing to do is call your trustee and ask them what the hold up is. If they won’t/don’t return your call then you may want to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy.
