There is no income restriction to file a bankruptcy. So regardless of employment you are technically able to qualify to file. Although practically speaking there is no need while you not employed to file, you may find it makes more sense to file once you start working.

Regardless that is up you you, either way you need to talk it over with a local trustee to make sure you understand everything that is involved.
