If you have done consumer proposal and that has gone into defult due to miss payment and you declare bankcrupt what is the length of time it takes to discharge?

, A licensed trustee said:

If this is your first bankruptcy and you perform all of your duties properly in the bankrutpcy then you will be entitled to an Automatic Discharge in either 9 or 21 months depending on your income.

If you fail to perform your duties properly then you will have to appear in Court and it is likely the Court will order your bankruptcy to run either 24 or 36 months (again depending on your income) due to the proposal.

So – if you file bankruptcy, do everything that you are supposed to do…
