what is an approx normal waiting time for discharge

i have a question,i went bankrupt for the 3rd time in 2006.initially i was told i would be discharged in about 18 mths,its now over 3 yrs and nothing.is this a normal time frame?pls advise,thanks roz

There is no hard and fast rule for people that have filed bankruptcy 3 times – the Court has the discretion to do pretty much whatever it wants to…

You should have had a discharge hearing sometime around the 12 month mark after you filed. At that hearing the Court should have set conditions that they wanted you to fullfill in order to be discharged. The Court may have simply adjourned the hearing and told you to come back later.

Contact your trustee and ask them what needs to be done in order for you to be discharged. If they aren’t certain ask thjem if they will schedule another hearing so you may ask the Court what it is they want you to do.
