Post-Bankruptcy Tax Return
March 24th, 2009 by Questions
I files bankruptcy on July 22, 2008 and will be discharged on April 22, 2009.
The trustee has already done the Pre-Bankruptcy return (from Jan. 1 to July 21 2008)
Now, I am required to file the Post-Bankruptcy Income tax return (from July 22 to Dec. 31 2008) Before April 30, 2009.
I am expecting Income tax Return of around $2000.
My question is: If I file the post-bankruptcy tax return after my discharge date of April 22, 2009 and before April 30, 2009, will i keep the expected tax return of $2,000?
Thanks

Typically all refunds for the year of bankruptcy (both pre and post) are assigned over to your trustee upon filing for bankruptcy. So I wouldn’t expect to receive this money.
