A bankruptcy is public record and anyone can do a search under your personal name to determine if there ever was a bankruptcy in your past. Now this isn’t something that is done very often, but technically can be. So if the bank is really motivated to determine previous history the easily can. As well, they will often put on applications a question that asks if you have ever filed a bankruptcy previous and you are obligated to answer the question if posed.
